If you switch to Xbox live silver membership is it possible to switch back to xbox live gold membership?

Today my xbox live gold membership ran out and it asked me if i wanted to switch to silver. I didn’t do anything and exited out. I switched to my brothers account then about an hour later switched back and it said that i switched to the silver membership and want to know if it is possible to switch back to gold.

Yes, you just have to buy more Gold time, Silver is the free membership that doesn’t allow you to Play Games Online.
